Remember when you were little and imagined being a firefighter or princess or president (or whatever it was that you dreamed of being)? And you were SO excited because when you got to be bigger, you could be whatever you wanted to be?
Remember when you still believed that you could accomplish all your dreams and with just a little time or a little more money or more motivation, it was all within reach?
Well – this is it! Today is the day that you’ve worked so hard for! You dreamed of this day. You prayed for this day to come. You prepared for this day by going back to school to get your degree, getting yourself out of your bad relationship or leaving your toxic family behind. You saved money. You waited until you met the right guy or gal.
All so that you could get to – this day!
Hooray! Let’s celebrate!
So how is that dream life working out for you?
Is it all you ever hoped and dreamed it would be?
Or are you like most people and waiting on that special day, moment or hour where it will all FINALLY come together?
When you finally have more time, more money or more motivation.
When all your dreams will come true.
If you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m trying to make a very important point.
And here it is:
Wherever you find yourself today is the result of all the choices and decisions you’ve made up to this point.
And if you don’t like where you are, it’s up to you to change it.
Even more importantly – you ARE living exactly the life that you planned. You married that person. You stayed with that job. You went to that school and studied that subject.
Or you didn’t get married. Or you had a baby. Or you moved across the country to pursue a career.
All you, you, you.
This moment – where you find yourself RIGHT NOW – is all because of….you.
How does that feel to you?
If you find yourself still blaming your circumstances, you haven’t learned your lesson yet.
If you are still waiting on that special day or special set of magical circumstances to make it right, you haven’t learned your lesson yet.
And if you think you’d be where you wanted to be, except for (insert person or thing to blame), you haven’t learned your lesson yet either.
Yes, it may still take time to get to the ultimate success you hope to achieve, but the life you are living right now STILL reflects all your successes (and failures (i.e., life experiences) to date. Where you are RIGHT NOW is in fact the life you dreamed for and prepared for and did your best to achieve.
And if you understand that and the fact that life is often wonderful despite the side trips and life lessons learned along the way, you have learned your lesson. And you get bonus points if you’ve discovered how to be content where you are and not need material things or other people to make yourself happy
Today is THAT day.
Hope you’re enjoying it.
